I was always afraid to put a painted sign into Evaporust. Wasn't sure if it would damage the paint. In the first picture I had already cleaned the left side with liquid hand soap and warm water, and a little bit of barkeepers. Not bad, but nothing like the Evaporust. Decided to take a chance and glad I did.

Looks like the right choice. Gotta love it when products actually do what they claim to do.

Steve, did you keep track of how long you soaked it?

Did not dull the color. If anything made them better. Look closely at the yellow.
Brian, I'm sorry, I don't remember. A few hours.

I recommend testing a small area before submerging any painted surface in Evaporust. I soaked painted gallon markers for 10 minutes and it removed the paint. The paint could not be oil based or gasoline would have dissolved it. I have also soaked rusted steel with oil based paint and Evaporust softened up the paint so I could remove it with a wire brush. Have to be careful with anything painted. Porcelain is much more durable and can handle a good soak and scrub.
