I understand the differences in the fonts. The G specifically and the radius on the A. But if it's fake, it was faked an awful long time ago. If you saw it in person and saw the crust you would understand. But I do understand your thought.

As Wayne Henderson says, paraphrased, What would the items original use have been (contemporary to when it was made) ?
Looking for photos, etc from 60s era Shell-A-Rama gas station and Pal's Diner, Rt. 17 Mahwah, NJ & US or state highway signs, shields, route markers

I like the look and wouldn’t give a rip if it’s a fantasy piece just like all these as found pumps that are being created.
