Hello everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful month of February. We have had such good participation so far on all of the POTM (Pump Of The Months) so keep it up! For this POTM I am going to do some of the best American models. The American Pump Company made a variety of stunning Art Deco pumps and since some of these models are hard to come by, I am picking a handful of some of the best American models (in my opinion). This POTM will include these models of Americans.

American 288: Cash Recorder (1934)
American 388: Cash Recorder/simple version (1934)
American 489: "Comput-O-Pump" Computer/Display Case (1935)
American 500: Clockface w/Glass top accents (1935)
American 510: Computer w/Glass top accents (1935)
American 550: Clockface w/Glass top accents (1935)
American 700: Computer
American 705: Computer
American 710: "American Beauty" Computer/Glass Top (1937)
American 750: Clockface (1937)
American 800: Computer (1938)
American 810: Computer/Glass Top (1938)
American 850: Clockface (1938)
American 900: "American Beauty" Computer (1939-1947)
American 900: "American Beauty" Non-Computing (1939)

I included a variety of models to get a lot of participation, and just because these models are sweet! My brother and I do not have any of these models yet unfortunately, so here is a picture from the book of one of my favorites, the American 500. Enjoy guys, and please feel free to add anything I missed in the comments!

This is one of my favorite Art Deco style gas pumps. The American Beauty 800 Deluxe has a lot of detailing that makes it a Beauty...like it’s name.

American 900.

Some sort of bulk pump for the government. Has a data plate that's 4x as large as normal with government info on it.

Back has a factory installed block off plate as the VR only has one side - and note that it only shows gallons and price per, no total sale. And the arrangement is unique to this pump also.

I swapped the yellow top off a short 900 I own as the original top did not accept a globe.

This pump has never been painted since it left the factory. The original red paint is intact under the data plate.

Later . . .

Jim

Attached is a photo of my model 500. At least it's the top half, the bottom is behind one of my vehicles put away because of the upstate NY winter.

Gas Pump Ronnie contributed this photo of a 510 he restored in the 1980s . At the time faces were not available so he had to use Bennett 541 faces to complete the project.
