This 13.5" lens was on a pre-visible..I suspect it is a repro because of smooth backside of lens, but the deterioration, and flaking of the white stripe & red colors at bottom ,and surface scratches seems to show some age.
I know it is hard to tell from photos........Is there any hope it could be orginal ?

According to the globe cd, it was never made in a 13.5 size originally so more than likely a repop.

Well, that was an easy answer..Thanks

What would cause the flaking and color deterioration ? Too strong light bulb ?

Hey guys, I just turned 80 years old and I've had this 13 1/2" original glass water stained lens for 44 years. It was on a glass globe originally, but now on repro metal holder.

It looks like the bottom edge was sandblasted to give it a weather/aged look.

I have a 2016 copy but it shows a similar script on a banded glass body so, maybe measure your lens and see if it is a smaller or larger size than 13.5? If it is, then it's probably one of those since you say it was originally on a glass body.

To me, the damage on the lens matches the damage on the metal body so I would have to agree with Matt or it's a repop that has been sitting out in the elements for maybe a couple decades?? According to the cd, 13.5" metal bodies were not original , only fantasy/repop.
