Here's a pic of a old Mobil lubester I bought recently. I plan on restoring it. I would like to find the original style decals.

Thanks Thunder.
I thought the lid was pretty cool too. That's why I bought it. I'll post pics when finished.
Would you know what decal it should have on it?

Do you know anyone that would have a correct original sign for the top and what do they usually sell for?

Thanks

Philip

I would think that It would have a Gargoyle decal on it, but I'll let the Mobile guys handle that....

I don't think that it would necesarrily have been a decal on this lubster during it's Gargoyle period. As I did show in the other post where this lubester was being discussed, it probably would have been a porcelain sign appr 8 inches, on a bracket somewhere on top of the pump.
If you still want to have a decal, I think that you would have to order it from one of the custom decal makers, as I haven't found any Gargoyle decals at the usual vendors.

Here are my lubsters. They are NOS from 1935. They do have a water release decal, but these small Swedish lubsters seldom had a porcelain sign.

regards,
Claes

I don't think the seller knows what he has. Both of the lubesters have the Mobil Filpruf attachments and the fill top that sticks up (that we trying to determine what it was a while back) has pins in it so that only the Mobil delivery guy can fill the tank with Mobil product. http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-GARGOYLE-MOB...1QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks Claes I just noticed your reply.
That decal probably is very close to what mine has under the paint. Any ideas where to get one at?

Rex: are you talking about the extended area where the cast lid would be normally? Just wondering.

Thanks everybody!!
