I'm sure most of you remember this lubster.

It's still one of my favorite restorations. And I still have to check Chris' truck each time he leaves to make sure he hasn't taken it!

Later . . .

HERE'S A QUICKIE I DID ON THAT 6' LONG 1927 VEEDOL PORCELAIN SIGN THAT I PICKED-UP AT CARLISLE ABOUT 10 DAYS AGO:

1ST PIC SHOWS THE SIGN INFIELD BEFORE I BOUGHT IT. IT WAS DIRTY AND HAD ALOT OF CHIPS, BUT STILL NOT THAT BAD.

2ND PIC SHOWS THE SIGN CLEANED.
I ALSO FRAMED OUT THE REAR OF HE SIGN WITH 1X3" LUMBER RIGHT UP TO THE EDGE AND THEN FINISHED THE FRONT SIDE WITH CORNER MOULDING
AND PRIMED IT WHITE.

3RD PIC SHOWS THE TRIM PAINTED GLOSS BLACK WITH A ORANGE PINSTRIPE DONE WITH MY PINSTRIPE TOOL! THE RONAN SIGN PAINTERS ORANGE WAS A PERFECT MATCH FOR THE VEEDOL SIGN AND I TOUCHED THAT UP AS WELL AS THE BLACK AREAS TOO.

I DEF LIKE THE WAY IT TURNED OUT - HOPE YOU LIKE IT TOO!

THANKS!

CHRIS, I USED RONAN'S GLOSSY BLACK ON TOP OF THE GLOSSY BLACK PORCELAIN AND RONAN'S GLOSSY ORANGE ON THE GLOSSY ORANGE PORCELAIN WHICH WAS STRANGELY ENOUGH ALMOST A PERFECT MATCH AS I MENTIONED, SO NO MIXING WAS REQUIRED. AN EASY TOUCH UP JOB FOR SURE!

THANKS!

MATT, I USED SMALL DETAIL BRUSHES AND JUST GOBBED ON THE PAINT IN THE LARGE AREAS AND DABBED IN THE TIGHT AREAS.

HERE ARE SOME SELECT AREAS OF THE VEEDOL SIGN WHERE CHIPPING WAS MOST PROMINENT:

WHILE IT MAY NOT BE AN ALL OUT FILL IN THE CHIPS TOUCH-UP, THE SIGN LOOKS GREAT AT 15-20 FEET AWAY. IT'S WHEN YOU GET CLOSER YOU CAN TELL THAT I WENT GENERIC AND JUST PAINTED THE CHIPS OVER. THE ORANGE ACTUALLY MATCHED BETTER THAN THE BLACK I THINK!

THANKS!

Jim if I lived closer you would have to be
checking my truck as well as Chris's.
Would love to have that sitting next to my
Polly pump.Still the best one I've seen.
