I hope none of our group is being fooled by this reproduction. Does anyone know about this seller?

What about the Sinclair one he has for sale also? In my twenty years of collecting I've only seen a couple. In the last 4-6 weeks,there have been at least 3 or 4 on Feebay!

Looking for early Pure Oil Company items(Energee,Detonox,Puritan)as well as any Woco Pep items.

Looking for graphic quart cans for my collection.

What is the giveaway on the Mobil one?
I emailed the seller about the Sinclairs;

My Q;
How many of these do you have? Are they all new old stock?

His reply;

Not enough and yes they are NOS

I am not an expert on these but I did notice that he has had about 4-6 in the last few weeks. Maybe he found an old box of NOS ones? I think one sold for over $760. I looked through my pictures and found a picture of one that was at one time in one of the largest Sinclair collections. That is not a guarante it is real but look at the pictures;

A picture of the one for sale on eBay;

The one that was in the big collection;

Looking at them side by side, it appears the hole cut out in one is taller, the "Rieck Oil Co." is not the same, one is a lot bolder, and the "HC" on the eBay one looks slightly off center and my eyes are not good enough to read the small print on the one. None of this proves one is real and one is fake, maybe there was two different batches? Then again, finding 5-6 or more "NOS" toppers might be a clue to their originality???

The differences between this one and the original include the poorly formed feet, the lack of ridges in the wing area, the oval hole is too large, the ridges on the base are not well formed, and the edges are not turned in as sharply as on the original. Pictures of all the originals and reproductions are featured in my booklet "Socony-Vacuum License Plate Markers". I still have a few copies of the third printing available. I hope to sell the rest at Indy and Hershey and get the next printing completed with some new information and pictures.

You can really see the difference if you look at them together.
