Did you notice that at bottom of listing, it says PayPal ACCEPTED ?
Ebay is trying to force everyone to use PP.

I just did a check to list an item without using paypal.

I tried one account that has only 55 feedback and I was REQUIRED to accept paypal. Not only that but it said "payments may be held in your account to ensure smooth transactions. PayPal will release the hold after 21 days without a buyer dispute, claim, chargeback or other action." - WOW - So if the buyer wants, they can complain, keep their money and the item (or send back a damaged one or another one or whatever). And yes, it can and does happen.

When I made a listing with an account that has over 800 feedback, paypal wasn't required.

Maybe this is fair to buyer to protect from bad seller, but I've heard of MANY circumstances where the seller was ripped off from fraudulant chargebacks using paypal. But I guess it's their ballpark, so if ya wanna play, ya gotta play by their rules - fair or not.

A friend of mine, told me he found a way around it, accepting only money orders ?

Once again, PURE GREED .... It's nothing else !!! Ebay owns Paypal, they don't give a rat's *** about protecting anybody, buyer or seller...

You can list an item by not taking paypal on Ebay...When you click the "sell" the first screen you go to has a "customize your listing" option..click on that & you can list without paypal..Ron

I believe it all depends on how many transactions (feedback) you have.
When I did that with my 55 feedback I.D. ("Customize your listing") I had no choice and was given this under the payment choices

"Because of your limited transaction history on eBay, you must offer PayPal or a merchant credit card as a payment method for this listing. PayPal is the safer, easier way to receive payments on eBay.
Learn more about the eBay Accepted Payments Policy."

On my I.D. with more feedback I didn't have to use paypal. Maybe the I.D. you tried it under had enough feedback.
