My moms is making a trip from the motherland back home for a visit, She lives in Namibia S/A. I have asked her to look for any Caltex or other oil co stuff before her visit back. What kind of prices does the Caltex stuff bring here? I need to know if what she buys there is worth the money.

Sounds like an S.AFRICAN SCAM to me. One of the worst things is to have someone that doesn't know what is REPRODUCTION & what is REAL buy stuff for you.

Now Richard...do you think for one minute that I would buy something sight unseen?? That's what they make digital cameras and email for. Or are you implying my own mother would scam me? And you didn't even answer my question.
I did have a sweet Caltex Oil Bottle....now my ex-wife has one!!!!!WAH !!!! Mr. "Oddvious"

Pictures don't always tell the whole story [look at all the **** on ebay].
You asked a GENERAL QUESTION, CALTEX stuff. Globe, can, big /small sign [plastic, painted, porcelain, single/double] ?????????????????????
STUFF is only worth what someone is willing to pay [+ shipping & possibly Import TAX].
YOUR WIFE DID ! LOL

Ok... small unbreakable advertising stuff....pump signs, handy oilers , oil cans, etc. Is a Caltex pump sign worth $100 or ten thousand...C'mon I was born at night ...but not last night!!!! It's not like she is comming from Argentina anyway. How much fake junk have you seen comming from Namibia?
Everything she has brought back before is real. And most has been very inexpensive due to the economy there....Their income there is good.....if they made the same here they would be UNDER the poverty level. There is a big difference in the two countries economy! And I got the "I HAVE TO HAVE IT ,MONKEY" off my back a long time ago.
And she is my EX-Wife....I paid a lot for that title!!!!!! I filed ...not her!!!!!

Joe, it seems as if you answered your own question...

The bottle I had was the "decal" type. I had no idea what the value of it was. No internet back then. Thanks for the input Don...seems to be a $100.00 dollar difference in the two styles of bottles....This is what I am talking about. Heck, I am a tightwad...I'm not ashamed to admit it. But I won't bend anyone over a barrel either. Then again, I don't mind paying for something if I NEED it. I try not to use ebay for price info...if something is worth X and someone pays Y for it because the "MONKEY" kept making them bid, that does not mean it is worth Y and that I should ask Y if I decide to sell what is brought back.....She might bring back something that I wish not to keep and one of you guys might just get it....not off ebay either.
I took a 16 yr pause in my hunting/gathering. I just got back into hunting the stuff this year...Back then you just drove around and came home with a truckload at the end of the day....Now I haven't came up with as much...but 99% of the time, I come back with something. It seems now everyone just shops on ebay, gets burned, then bitches about it. Everything there is suspect!!!!! I like to crawl under buildings...heck, I'm a plumber, I do it all the time!!!! I guess it's the "SCAVENGER" in me.
Now, say she finds two mint, early, REAL, Caltex pump signs. And I want to sell one with a price tag on it.....What would be a fair price for an item like that?........because the bear sign amazed me....I think you all know what I am talking about. Thanks Joe

Joe, Attached are photos of two Caltex porcelain pump plates. The first one is from France, the second from Australia. You can expect to pay $200-$400 each depending on condition. Good luck. Paul [This message has been edited by Pablo (edited 09-13-2007).]

I received an email from mom, she said ,Shell ,BP,ENGEN, and Total, are the oil co,s around there. She said she would check with some of the old "packrats" and see if she can find something. But I am not holding my breath....if she does ,she does ,if not, oh well. A Shell sign would be nice though!!! I beleive that area was settled by the Dutch. Could get interesting. Does anyone know anything about ENGEN or TOTAL????
