I have a question about the Sinclair mini banks that I see on eBay from time to time. Are the banks with paper labels original ? I was under the belief that the paper labeled ones were reproduction.

Hi Curt- I these were a set of 3 sold by Sinclair in early 90s- they could be had at the time for about 99 cents for the 3 pack- I bought a few dozen for traders at the time-I dont think there was ever an original old bank like these- hope this helps-thanks don

I had won some of these on ebay several years ago.
They did come out in the 90's. I spoke with a seller who said he was the one that had these made. They almost had a painted label but the deadline came too quick so a paper label was used imstead. I would be surprised if there wasnt original painted label versions out there as there are several other companies with them. I'm sure the Sinclair experts know...

I have this one with a lithographed label (painted). Do the other two exist in the wild?

No. That one is the only painted label Sinclair bank. I would consider the paper label banks as originals as they were sold by Sinclair stations. As previously stated they were available in the early 1990s while most of the other mini oil can banks date to the 1960s or earlier.

Does anyone have any original packaging or point of purchase display advertising from Sinclair stations on the paper label cans?

I remember in the early 90's these cans were pushed as old by a guy in California who sells a lot of fake and misrepresented petroliana (calendars, etc.)
