I am finally getting my pump together and thought I would show some pics. I first soaked the pieces in Dawn dish detergent to get the main crud off. I then used Bar Keepers Friend and lightly scrubbed them with a Scotchbrite pad. They came out great!

Doc, I saw that on a post when I was researching. I was going to do the Bar Keepers Friend and then try the Soft Scrub w/Bleach on stains that wouldnt come out, but they all came out so never got to try that method.
You are right about the water though. I decided to clean these just as my wife decided to do some baking, so we had to fight for the sink and countertop. I won.

I never thought of that. Could have been disasterous. It might have scratched the porcelain lol

I use those blue scotch bright scubbies, the ones with a sponge on one side and the scubbie on the other.

They are awesome. They don't scratch. Used with the barkeepers friend, a great combination.

My wife started me using Barkeepers friend ,its the best way I've found to clean faceplates and old porcelain signs. I now have my very own can for the garage.
