Good move Dave.

We can mock up everything to look like this but nothing beats something TOTALLY original like this.

Amen leave it be.

Hi Dave,

I'll second that "leave it be".I think many things are best left where they were actually in use.IMO,this is such a case. Thanks for posting it.

Me, too, but again, I just felt very strongly about not making this about trying to get something for me. Actually, I did get something. I was on my way to NC to spend sometime with my brother who has ALS and this was an hour that I just relaxed and was in a whole different frame of mind.

I'll post some more interior pics later tonight.
If you note there is a 1988 calendar, I believe, and a 1976-all the others are 1964 and older.

Is that staged? That is one of the best old station pics ever, almost like time has stood still in that spot. COOL!!

My wife took the picture out the window of the in-laws car. Put an old Coke machine in place of that one, and put a few muscle cars on the lifts and that picture could just about be from 1972

You just don't see oil cans stacked in a pyramid in front of gas stations any more! Did they also check the oil & wash the windows too ? laugh

I need to dig up my pictures of the same station from 2005. It even had a "Maps available" sign in the window. Yes, we filled up the rental car and I snapped pictures like a madwoman.

Bernie (pictured) said this Michigan location was built as a Standard station and that there is a model name or number for this style station.

That's a very nice looking station! It's nice to see how well it's kept up.
