Hey guys, I found this can today while looking for a hood for my 64 Chevy truck. It was laying amongst a bunch of junk cars and trash. I have never heard of this brand. Can anyone tell me about this?

Thanks,
Zack

Not sure of the history, but when I was growing up in the late 60's and early 70's in south Mississippi, Site was one of the original, no-frills, cheap gas companies. Self serve of course with a small attendant's booth in the center under a metal canopy.

Collecting the Mississippi companies:

Dave has it right about Site. They were scattered around the Midwest and were based in St. Louis, MO. The stations I saw had no service bays. That logo was from the 1950s to 1995 according to the book, Guide to Gasoline Logos.

The older Site stuff like "Site-lax" oil cans are pretty collectible. The quart cans from the 50s are good finds. Sorry to say 2 gallons cans that are rusty don't bring much, sorry.

Great, thanks for the info guys. Being from Mississippi myself i should have recognized this brand, LOL. I'll just put it on my shelf with the others and enjoy it for what it is. Thanks again.

Dave.............I grew up in Jackson. My dad owned Briarwood Gulf, Northside Texaco and Briarwood Texaco. Not sure if you would remember these stations but he was one of the biggest gas station dealers in Jackson during the 70's and early 80's, that is until the C-stores bascially put him out of business. The last time i was back several years ago, Northside and Briarwood Texaco stations were torn down and the Gulf station was remodeled into a BP C-store. I sure miss those old days.

Oil companies found out they got a better return on contract/lease C-Stores than they were getting from stations w/ lube/service bays.

Yes, They knew my dad would not sell out so they raised his lease on the property so high that he could not afford it, therefore he had to sell out to Texaco, they bulldozed the station and they popped up a c-store. That is very chicken.... in my book.
