A buddy of mine is looking for his first pump and stumbled upon a G&B T8 Curbside. It is missing both doors and all internals. It doesnt have the globe holder or globe or hose. Apparently someone turned it into some sort of garden fountain. He is wondering the value of the pump and how much it would cost to restore. I didnt see a "T 8" in Jacks book, but a similar G&B 8 is valued at $550 (first edition). Anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost to restore? He is especially interested in getting doors. Anyone have them? Price? Also, a "pump guy" told him that if restored properly the pump would be worth several thousand dollars. I am no expert, but never thought curbsides were ever that valuable. Is this a rare pump or something? Any help on ballpark resto costs and value is appreciated. If he goes for it he will be looking for parts, esp doors if anyone has them. He can get the pump cheap, $50, but its basically a shell right now. He doesnt want to get it if its going to cost more than its eventually worth to restore Thanks, John

I don't pass on many pumps, but this would be one of them. Unless I needed a garden fountain.

The T-8 is shown in my revised edition of the Gas Pump Identification book. There are actually 4 versions shown on page 155. Values run from $700 to $1000 (in a good economy), but remember this is for a pump that is near 100% complete.
As Doc says, it is probably worth $50.00 as a garden fountain.

I think these are cool pumps! Without the insides, the pump is not great but a complete one is SUPER cool IMO.

Thanks for all the replies. My friend (Mike) has joined the site and will probably be posting in this thread or may be in touch about the doors as soon as he is "approved". His name here is "Oxbow" Thanks again, John

Hi everyone...I'm the new guy John (vermonter) warned you about. Thank you all for your help thus far. I did purchase this pump and feel that it will be a good first pump restoration project for me. I want this to be a fairly low budget project,so hopefully some of you have some spare parts. I think my lack of knowledge in this area may have lead to a hasty observation on my part. It was not used as water fountain, in fact, based on pictures that I have seen of restored and original pumps it looks to be almost complete, minus doors and inspection cover.
Keith: May I PM you regarding the doors?
Thanks again.

Mike, welcome to the site. Please post photos of the pump, we all like photos. If you are unsure about posting photos the "testing" forum has tutorials that should help, plus is a forum for testing your skills. If you still have problems? I, as well as most of the membership, can post for you until you feel confident.
