Anyone know how to remove oil stains form cement? While taking my pump appart I put some parts like the pump and the other parts that held gas on the garage floor and some goop which I thought was water leaked out but I later found it was an oily goop. I used simple green on it and got the oil to wash away but I still have the stain. Is there a way to get rid of the stain or not? I really don't mind it but my parents are not too happy about it.

Diluted muriactic acid, which you may purchased at almost any hardware store, will remove stains from concrete. This product may also be marketed as a "concrete cleaner". Simply follow the directions that should be on each bottle. If you want step-by-step instructions that the professionals use to clean concrete, these instructions might be helpful: http://www.vaultgarage.com/_blog/Design_...CHING_CONCRETE/Good luck!

If the muriatic acid is too strong, it will dissolve concrete, so be careful.

Oil repels muriatic acid you will disolve the concrete in order to release the oil. You need to disolve the oil- try brake cleaner and a rag. I bet you will be pleasantly surprized how well it works.

Just an idea for next time . . . put down a big piece of cardboard and put the pump on it before you start the tear down.
This way, any stray liquids hit the cardboard first and give you time to throw the 'kitty litter' at it before it stains the concrete. LOL
Of course, the trash guys hate it!
Later . . .
