Hello to everyone, just dropping in to say hello and the site looks great.
I'm an automotive instructor and I teach a high school level ASE Certified program. I have a mix of 11th/12th grade students in my class. We cover a wide range of areas and service about 150 customers at our shop(the free labor brings them in).
Before that I worked for a Chevrolet/Cadillac dealer as a tech for almost 18 years.
My collection of suff is typical of what you might see in a repair shop from the 60s, my dad had a shop back then and I have a few things from his old shop. My father-in-law also ran a shop for a very long time so again I have some of the stuff from his shop.
My goal is to build a vintage shop next spring and finish getting what I need to set it up.
I do a lot of repair work on older cars, my last project was a engine in a 57 Belair, so it would be fitting to have my shop set up that way.
Well thanks for the space and talk to everyone soon. Larry

Welcome, Larry!
I started out going to Ranken Technical College in St. Louis, Mo. in the late 1960s taking both auto maintenance and collision repair. I'm always grateful for that training which gave me a 42 year career with no unemployment and a good retirement.
Sounds like a great project that you're working on.

Welcome Larry from one newbie to another. My father also ran a shop, a Texaco station throughout the sixties and after I apprenticed through him, I too went to work for a chevy dealer in Toronto for several years. The lure of flat rate wages were irresistable back in those days. Best of luck with your spring project!

Welcome to oldgas Larry. It sounds like you were born with grease under your finger nails ! I turned wrenches for 25 years and for 14 of those years I had my own shop. I stay cleaner now a days doing home repairs and remodels.

Hi Scott, when I was 8 years old, my brother bought a 67 GTO. I held the drop light while my dad rebuilt the 400, he always complained that the light was in his eyes, but that was the only way I could see what was going on myself. I wont every forget what that old poncho sounded like at first start-up. I caught the "flu" way back then, (32 years ago)It also caused me to own a few goats of my own.
