i was wondering how you paint guys go about filling pitted areas in sheet metal whether it might be some kind of primer-filler, or boby filler. any help appreciated thanks fance

BODY FILLER, BONDO SANDED DOWN SMOOTH - THEN SKIM W/SPOT PUDDY....SAND AGAIN 400 THEN 600. TAKE A CLOSE LOOK...APPLY MORE SPOT PUD IF NEEDED....SIMPLE BUT TIME CONSUMING!

After you go through the puddy stages you can use a filler primer to put a final fill on things. Wet sand it with a fine paper & you are ready for paint

This is my trick for putting on filler the easy way and it lays out smooth and is easier to sand.Mix your bondo with some fiberglass liquid resin 4to1 mix and stir together,you only have to use the filler hardner and this works awsome.Sand with 80 and then with 120 and use a europrime filler primer and wet sand with 400 then with 600,seal and paint.Dont use red spot puddy on your resto,it shrinks under the paint in time leaving places in the paint.This works grweat for me my2cents

I use and sell a Primer from the Clausen co called Rust Defender...it is a Very high build primer w/ zinc chrom in it..It is 2 part and no reducer..I put 2 to 3 coats on a bad Pump..let dry and 80 grit it..then 180 it..no more pits.. then use your reg primer..I have used Rust Defender for over 7 years on pumps and it unreal how much time I save.

i use duponts cheaper brand called nason. their urethane primer builds really fast and sands super easy in 2 hours. good luck

Gas Ally your right,the Nason brand paint lays better than the dupont itself even though its from the same company.Used it on a cheaper Harley paint job.I like sikkens myself but is almost impossible to get it around here at a last minute basis.PPG has a cheaper line of paint now also and it lays out good too.
