I've got a pretty nice original Ideal 55 whose compressor recently quit. The replacement options for new equipment are pretty pricy, as most places recommend buying the whole new skid with everything (compressor, coils, evap, etc) so it all works well with the new technology. Thing is, it's probably going to cost more than the thing is worth.

Does anyone have a basketcase Ideal 55 slider-type machine with a good compressor they're looking to part out?

Chris,
You can send me a picture of the compressor you need? I have several spares and might be able to match it up

I forget exactly how these compressors are mounted but you might want to try and buy an late 60's - 70's soda machine cheap and retrofit the compressor. It should match up pretty close.
