Here is the situation. I purchased a globe from another member on this site on June 10. When it arrived it was damaged...due to poor packaging. It was not doubled boxed and in a box that was way too small. Long story short we agreed to a partial refund of $100 as one lens and the metal body were okay. The problem is I have not received my partial refund and the member has cut off all communication with me...his last pm agreeing to the partial refund was June 26. I have sent numerous pm's, I have tried regular email, and I have tried calling him, but I see him posting on this site almost daily. As a longtime member of this site do I have any recourse? Its really not about the money...at this stage of my life a 100 bucks isn't going to make or break me. Its about participating on this great site with a bunch of people that you can trust.
I offer quart can re-lidding, can rolling, lid stamping, and dent removal.

...don't kid yourself, $100 bucks is real money...and there's no shame in wanting the other person to live up to their word...fair is fair...
Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I agree with Mark... If you had agreed on a price and then held back $100; I can't think of anyone here who would say... No problems...
I can think of 2 options for resolution;
#1: Ask Jim if he will become involved in working out this difficulty...
#2: If after this thread, the Member still won't send the refund in a "VERY TIMELY MANNER"... Notify Jim that you will name the Member....
We are a very small Community and as a Member I want to know who I can trust and not trust with my money..... If a Member will "short change" another Member in regards to a transaction... They won't hesitate to do it to me.... I want to know before a transaction comes back to possibly bite me.....
Looking for Tide Water/ Tide Water-Associated/ Tidewater items

Well, if he's reading this, he should man up and tell you what the deal is, instead of leaving you guessing! Either hes going to pay & when--or he has no intention of paying! Hes actually got a good deal going with you because I believe its the sellers responsibility to get the item there safely! Earlier this year, I bought an item from a member that was damaged when it arrived and he was super about it! He refunded me the total, along with what I'd paid for shipping! Real stand up guy! Another incident with a member was when I got some ad glass and it arrived broken! I sent him pictures of the item and returned it in the same box. I got a message apologizing for his lousy packing job and a total refund! Now thats the way it should be done! Thats the way I would do it!

When you order anything from a manufacture & it arrives damaged, manufacture doesn't reply with "You didn't pay for insurance, it's your loss", they Replace or Refund your Total. A Happy Customer will buy again.
I have Always said & felt, It's the seller that is responsible for Insurance. They are the one that needs to package the item so it arrives in the same condition as Sold & Sent. DON'T blame it on a shipping company, WE all know how they treat POORLY Packaged Item! Scott B. as said every globe/glass items needs to be package so that it will survive a 6' or more drop.
The BS of ebay sellers charging Buyer for Insurance is BS. Buyer isn't the one "protectively packaging" the item.
Seller, IF you said you'd Return $100, Do It.
Sure hope that Cast Iron base I just sent isn't thrown on to a Poorly wrapped item, it weighed almost 38#!

Worked in the Hub at UPS when I first started with them. The little bombs of cast iron would go down the under slide and hit the big boxes with lots of peanuts in them and just explode when they hit. Everyone just yelled and the peanuts would just fly up in the air. Your story reminded me of this and how you should pack in case of.

Tough position? Tough for a nice guy like TeeTee to not publicly throw the seller under the bus like he deserves. Those of us who know TeeTee, know what a good guy he is - as evidenced by his willingness to take the $100 as compensation for what once WAS a nice complete globe that didn't arrive safe due to seller's negligence. He could have just told seller to have it picked up and demanded a full refund. Seller needs to step up and make this right. We all need to work together to keep this site the great place it is.

All the guys here that i've had dealings with have been great, honest, up standing guys and i would like to think that would continue. If you owe Tee Tee a 100 bucks, pay up or i suggest you find another site to frequent. Good luck TeeTee and however you decide to handle it is fine by me! Owen

Guess maybe I'm a hard azz. If that happened to me with the back and forth of emails and PM's and getting the feeling I'm being ignored. I "might" send him a heads up that I was taking it to "old gas". Maybe not! I would out him in a second! The truth with set you free,,,and help us all.

Don't kill me guys if this has been discussed before..if it was I missed it..other forums I frequent have a place in the 'for sale' section to leave comments about buying/selling experiences you've had with other members. Has that idea ever been kicked around by the members? Pros and cons both ways I'm sure.
Good luck Tee Tee on getting your money back.

I think you should tell us who it is so we can all be cautious when dealing with this person. If he wasn't a member on this site, but just a random seller on eBay I'm sure you would have already give us his ebay name! Don't let him off the hook just because he's a member of this site. Everyone needs to be held accountable, it shouldn't matter if their a member of the site or not.
On a side note, sorry to hear you're having issues.
John
