Need to get some opinions from you guys on this as far as authenticity on this sign. Cant tell very well in the pics but it does have pretty good shelving and weighs around 9 pounds. Double sided porcelain 30" by 12" just like the originals. I have had some original porcelain ford signs that have had similar grommets. I have looked at a pictures from auctions and cant find any differences, I know the foreign ones were marked but not the American versions. Have included plenty of pics to help.

Thanks,
Robert

This is the one from ebay, I bought it. The seller couldnt guarantee it was original so said older reproduction. He had original 1920's and 30's ford manuels and books thats why I took a chance. The one Richard Amistadi is selling is the foreign version made in London. There are some very small chips in field.

This sign has been widely reproduced which is the main reason i do not have this version. Too many variations of repros on this sign. Come on robert you should know better smile JK lol

I know lol, If it was an obvious repop I would know instantly and would not even question it. I have seen the 34" by 14" double sided metal signs and the 18" by 14" small ones that arent die cut but havent seen any exactly like the originals. I dont know maybe someone on here has one and can post a picture to compare.

Thanks Bill, But like I said the one he has is from london so is a slightly different version. There are different variations in these signs.

This is the American one Matthews auctions sold that all font and everthing is the exact same as mine. If anyone has one of the ones like Dan Matthews sold post it here or send me a PM.

but I have been wrong before... I stay away from them .

The one Rich just sold matches the 1 in his book.

The white on top of the blue still bothers me,

Ok by the way everyone the price it was listed for on eBay doesnt matter, This sign was listed for less than 30 seconds before i bought it. No one else had the chance to buy it so that is not a dead give away.

IMHO yours is a repro, the porcelaining isn't consistent with correct early 1900s.

Should be thicker porcelain process, and as pointed out the face is far too "clean" vs edge damage.

If you look at the cross line in the F on most vintage Fords they tend to be thick and/or extend to or nearly at the bottom left-curl of the F-base. .

The complete font tends to have ends with points rather than blunt flats.

The 1912 bird logo you have should extend further and given the other known good piece it is not the same.

Review these logos - Ford Logos

As for different production process in Britain Ford logo... see these photos..
