oh, I thought it was like a 30" or a 48".... still 500. The larger signs aren't as wanted compared to the small ones.

Look at the condition of that sign closely. I don't think it would bring anywhere near that price. I'm from the south and I certainly wouldn't pay that. I think the first two posters have the value about right..Just my two cents...

Your right regardless of location, Notice the realistic values are from collectors, The HIGH prices are always quoted by pickers what they want people to think they are worth.

LOL, I've seen alot of out of world prices by collectors with deep pockets. Most collectors who have these aren't going to let them go for 500, 600, 700 unless they are just hard up or have a bunch of them sitting around. A nice one 9 or better would hit 2000.

ya, but this is not a 9! You can get a pole and a sign for that much! Good luck on getting 2000 for a 9 or better! I think 500-550 is the most you'l get for the one in the pic.
Thanks Noah

I get a kick out of PICKER prices. They always make me laugh...when they are buying and throwing out offers or if they are evaluating items.
Let's keep it real....this ain't reality TV! That's not even close to being a $1000.00 sign.

Members of this site know who are the "Pickers" and who are the "Collectors", so looking at the information provided in these posts can be evaluated accordingly! BTW I had a chance to buy the exact same sign in much better condition 3 months ago for $400.00

North of the border collectors make me laugh. I point Dave to his recent estimate of the Buick Valve in Head he estimated at 1500(similar condition to the above 66). Said piece sold for ~$800. Bit off there weren't you? I'm sure everyone here realizes that there is no set price on any sign and it's up to the collector what they're willing to pay, and up to us pickers what we're willing to sell a sign for. And I bet if you ask an insurance agent what you need to insure the sign for he'll have a totally different number!

Here in the south most of the large signs are held in collections and hoards. The red 66 is popular and scarce on the open market down here. You bring that sign here for $500-750 and pretty much the guy that buys it will be a picker who has a buyer at/near the $1000 mark.
What some collectors who balk at picker prices apparently fail to realize is that pickers sell to a much wider audience of buyers who don't care about collector value.
