I'm trying to get my Veder Root working. I have doused it with WD-40 and it looks remarkably clean, but when I turn the knob at the bottom of the unit, the numbers just sort of "click" and the gears only turn about a 1/4 inch. Is there something else I need to be turning to get the numbers to roll? What about these three pins attached to chains? Do they need to be removed for this thing to work?
Help!

Billy: Make sure that you have the unit upright when you try to turn the drive shaft on the bottom. I've found that they won't turn if the unit is laying on it's side. The pins are for setting the 'cost per gallon' and have no bearing on this problem. Later . . . Jim ------------------ [URL=http://www.vintage-logos.com[/URL]

Try the crank on the side of the unit where the reset shaft fits. A screw driver will fit in the slot and you should be able to work it until it breaks free. This is easier then trying to turn the bottom.

Thanks, I'll give both suggestions a try.

Try everything JJ, if you still can't get it to work. put a long pease of wire over the top to make a bail. place the computer in a empty 5 gallon bucket. cover with Kerosene, let sit for a week. everytime you walk by or see it left it up and down with the bail wire. pull it out let it drain, then try turning it setting up right , with visegrips. good luck . ------------------ Dwaine www.vintage-logos.com

Try turning the reset handle a little. It might need tobe reset 1st before turning the bottom shaft.
