For those who have never seen one. It is actually a thermometer. The different colored floats each represent a certain temperature and depending on the temp they float at different heights with like the lowest of those floating near the top representing the temp. Or something like that. My older sister had one back in the 80's or something.

It is the funniest artificial piece of petroliana yet. hands down!!
