I just clear out a bunch of stuff out of an old bulk plant. In the bottom of the pile of junk I found this old cigarette machine. Anyone know anything about it? Age, value?
It appears to be all here but not sure. pretty good shape for layin in the woods for atleast 20 years! Oh Yeah the brand is national and it says .40 cent packs.

Thanks Aaron

IT'S PRETTY ROUGH LOOKING....STILL A KEEPER, THOUGH. LOOKS TO BE OF 50'S - 60'S VINTAGE. I WAS OFFERED A SMALLER VERSION (NARROWER) ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO WHICH ALSO HAD A MIRROR. ALWAYS WONDERED WHY MIRRORS WERE ON THERE! GUESS THEY COULDN'T THINK OF ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE BLANK SPACE...HENCE THE MIRROR! LOL!

this is one I found 10 years ago upstairs in a Coca-Cola warehouse when they moved to another building. I gave 100.00 for it at that time.

A couple of years ago, I had two of those machines in good shape that I tried to sell for several months. I finally got an offer of $75 each and gladly let them go! One thing I remember is that they are heavier than they look! Good luck with your project.

If anyone is restoring one of the larger ones, I have the backlit mirror that is etched on the silvered side so the Cigarette script lights up.

I also have a cigarette machine just like the one you've posted. I paid 30.00 for it 2 years ago at a garage sale. National brand, 40 cents per pack. I was told that it was from the 40's - 50's???? Cool conversation piece. I saw one at Ohio Gas this spring for 450.00. Greg

Aaron, Here is a National machine like yours but is set up for candy. Notice the left side is for gum. I bought this for $250 and took it apart and painted it red and white. It also has Candy etched in the glass. I keep it full of fun size candy and the kids have a blast getting candy... including myself. LOL Look great with my Coke machine on the other side of the room.

Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

You have me stumped on this one, no manual. Did a Google search for Cigarette machines and vending machines and finally gave up.
I attend the Chicagoland Coin-op Show regurally, but I don't remember anyone ever offering parts for cigarette or candy machines.
I once had a chance to purchase a matching pair of cigarette and candy machines, but waited too long. It's nice if you can find the matching pair together.
One more thing, don't forget every petroleum display needs a condom machine in the bathroom. Now there is a guy who comes to Chicagoland selling the machines, the decals for the front of the machines and the items you need to put in the machine.
Expand your horizons.

Chris,

If you stick with the Stoner Candy machines there are many parts and manuals available. Any of these are quite simple compared to a gas pump, with the exception of the coin mechanism and dispensing portion of the machine (that's what weighs alot too). There isn't much to restoring the case and the stand. I have seen unrestored Stoner 180's which would be similar to JJ's machine for a couple hundred bucks at the Pomona Swap meet. For awhile they were commanding much higher prices, but they have been lagging lately.

Like the Coke machine conversation, if you stick with the Stoner brand they will probably be worth more in the long run than the National machines shown and require the same investment of time and money to restore.

Just my opinion.

Guys I use to have a National 113 Cigarette machine similar to the red one.

I do have a manual for it-its a little newer than the machine and it has other candy machines in it as well. I'll be glad to sell it.
I also have some pricing labels and original cigarette labels that go in these as well.

Thanks
Mark
