I'm relatively new to the forum but from what I've seen of this , it's an amazing and helpful site.

I'm trying to determine the value and collectability of a Sharmeter MA-37 Cash recorder, sorry no pictures as yet, however the pump is completely in tact, everything is there and straight panels, visi gauge. I see according to Jack Sims book quite a difference price wise between some of the cash recorders, I know pricing is a reference point only but when I compare the Sharmeter MA-37 to the likes of say the Milwaukee 860 there's quite a difference price wise.. does this mean that the Milwaukee is a more desirable pump over the Sharmeter? I have access to both these pumps but looking to see which may be more desirable..
Thank-you

Doug, the prices in BOTH of Jack's books are purely speculative . I'll be one to tell ya , either manufacturer is somewhat un common these days . As for what to ask , uh try someone else here , I have a rule about valuing stuff here .

BUY what YOU LIKE, others might not when it's time to sell.
There is no comparison of a Sharmeter MA-37 to a Milwaukee 860 for either Collectiblity or Pricing, IMHO.

Same as comparing a Wayne 83 to a Wayne 492! They are Both hand pumped Visible's.

Thanks Boys.. I've also got a Tokheim 36 clock face that I'm just about to close the deal on. All original with the visi sight glass, unfortunately the top doesn't have provision for add glass just a globe holder I didn't see a clock face of the 36 in Jack Sims book either so curious as to any information available on this particular model, rarity, collectability etc ..

Cheers

Has anyone an idea as to the value of a Tokheim 465 two compartment oil dispenser with the cart on wheels

Doug, the Tokiem 36 Clock although somewhat less common is collectable , in fact, very much so as it wasn't common to have seen one . Remember , Veeder - Root Computers were all the rage at the average service station in 1936 . Ed Shaver

so would it be safe to say it's more desirable than say a 36b ?

I happen to have a 36B with an original Esso Milk glass globe top

36 Dial Face is a Non-Computing [farm/commercial/non-retail] pump. Tokheim's [& other companies] answer to selling a new pump w/o paying a Royalty to Veeder-Root [which WAYNE was a Major share holder].
WAYNE, to stay competitive w/ other companies offered several of their pumps w/ the Clock Dial instead of VR's.

So if one was to choose between a Tokheim 36 clock face or the Sharmeter cash recorder which one might you think is the more desirable?

Thank-you
