Here is wall in my basement that has paneling on it that has a green tint. I am thinking of primering and painting it but not sure on a color. Any ideas?
Looking for anything from Hoosier Pete, Platolene 500 and Red Bird.

Uh John this is oldgas.com you may want to post that question on betterhomesandgardens.com or interiordesign.com or...
Just kidding it looks like paneling and if it is I would rip it out and texture and paint to match the rest of the basement.

Yes, it's paneling and the rest of the basement is block walls painted. I am not tearing this out... just paint. That would envolve way more than i want to tackle. I was thinking a dark red maybe?

Not my area of expertise, but it is my wife's (she's an interior decorator). I like dark red walls and we have one in our living room, but for a space like this with low ceilings you need light so a shade of white is a better bet. You could pick one wall and paint it a color if you want contrast.
Use panel primer first. I did a whole large wall like that in a mountain home that we had and the panel primer worked really well to cover the dark panelling.
Just my 2 cents.
Show us what it looks like when you're done!

I say you use DOC's method of painting, using the over head projector. Find a nice gas station picture or a row of pumps and paint them on the wall. (it is pretty easy) I saw a garage in CA where they did that, the whole wall of the garage was painted to look like pumps lined up. It was cool, all kinds of different pumps. You could throw some cool signs in there too. That is what I am going to do in my garage when we buy another place. All the pumps I like, lined up. I might do something cool like inset the globes into the wall and wire them up. Or maybe I'll paint the wall to look like an old Sunset station. It is pretty easy with the overhead projectors, just trace and fill in the colors. Or you could paint it red
I remember the good old days when gold was worth more than rust!

IT'LL MAKE THE ROOM LOOK BIGGER AND BESIDES THAT ANYTHING HUNG ON THAT WALL WILL JUMP RIGHT OFF AT YA! GO WITH THE WHITE.... OR DO THE O/H PROJECTOR THING - PAINT A HUGE FLOOR TO CEILING RED INDIAN MOTOR OIL HEAD THERE......I COULD FIX THAT FOR IN PHOTO SHOP IF YA WANT AN IDEA! BUT I GOTS WORK TO DO FOR HUBBA FIRST!

My wife took an old door and placed old magazine ads on it and covered it with glass and we use it for our computer desk. I thought she was nuts at first but you find yourself looking at all of the old ads. Try covering mybee one wall with old ads from gas stations, cars and the like and covering with plexiglass. You might think I'm nuts, but you won't be the first!Right now I'm late for bowling, see ya.

John, painted paneling looks great, i would encourage you to paint it, it would really brighten up your basement. Something light, you can't go wrong with white.

John the paneling will look great painted, it looks a little like barn wood , so I would paint a Mail Pouch Tobacco mural on it, stand up a A-38 or a 36-B in front of it and you'd have a winner

With that vertical plank look of the paneling that wall would look great with a weather'd look sign like you see on old barns painted on it. Jeff

not bad ideas... i was thinking maybe gray. Light gray? I am stumped! I like dark red but there might make it to much red. Have you guys seen Gary Drye room he has red and green together. Looks good to me!

Go with white.....you want what's hung on the walls to be displayed to the best advantage.....the wall color shouldn't even be noticed by the viewer. White pretty much does that........
