Hubba, I thought it was fake and tried to find it in some books. No luck. It is fake as far as I can see. Rex will know.

This is one of those "foreign" signs. I think it is possibly from India. The one I saw was ink-stamped Burma?

Hubba its a sign I have not seen. All the tell tale signs are there that its a new sign not an old original. You know original does not mean old. The sign maker 'THE UNION ENAMEL CO LTD DURDAN'is not on my list of old porcelain sign manufactures which is pre 1970. The application of the sign doesn't make sense,a strange one.No bidders yet. Might be OK but I doubt it. H.B.BIG GUY!! Rex

Hi guys, I cannot tell you if it is fake or not, but the marking says "ltd" wich means it is from the British common wealth. South Africa was mentioned by Scootdog, and it is quite possible. It sure looks new, but I think it is a bit hard to classify it as repro just because you haven't seen it before. Ask the seller more questions. He must have some history on it.
What looks peculiar to me are the letters. They don't look "Mobil-ish" to me. I believe that Mobil used the same type of lettering all over the world. just my 2 cents, Claes
