Shorpy's is a GREAT site...amd that pic is incredible in its detail...

How about the guy leaning against the building with the Ford sign...like a ghost...

Definitely circa 1921-1926.

Incredible pic. Are those the leaded globes? How common were they?

I REALLY want one of those 42" signs.

I have seen a number of pics of leaded globes. But, I think they were turned in BB gun targets over the years.

P.S. I ran an inflation calculator and gasoline that was .20 should cost about $2.41 as of 2007.

A dollar in 1925 is worth $12.03 in 2007 according to the inflation calculator. I am not sure you can always do an apples to apples comparison. I know a rancher that told me back in the 50s he could sell two truck loads of cattle to buy a new Ford truck and today it was 8 or 9, (This was a few years ago.) A guy making a dollar a day in 1925 had some budgeting to do. There were jobs that paid $5.00 a day back then. On the other hand, some folks today who make $30 and hour make $240 a day (before taxes) and if you go fill up your 30 gallon pickup..it costs $120. If you are working a $10 an hour job today....Well, you would probably be better off in 1925. But look at all the things we have that your parents and grandparents didn't have. Fun stuff.

I like how the pumps aren't on the bases, they are mounted in concrete.......

Mounted on concrete, but they had to use a ladder to read the totalizer up next to the globe. According to Bob Lee's book "Ten Gallons For A Dollar" those are Model 4 pumps

Here's another with cool signs and Fry pumps. 1925:
Would anyone dare "paint" the price of a gallon of gas on a pump today? I think the price would change long before the paint would dry.
