Looking for tried and true methods of removing rust from weigh scale parts, ideally not wanting to dismantle the complete penny scale inside components, just wondering if there might be a product that can be sprayed on and washed off before spray painting the components..

a good trick I use to remove rust from metal parts, use steel wool and plunge it in pepsi cola or coca cole before rubbing the piece, it works good
