Before you guys think I have that problem.... I'm not that old yet.

I received a full oil can today and the lid is seeping. Is there anything you guys put on it to seal it up or I'm I SOL???

drill in on the bottom and drain. Not much else to do. It will make a mess.

I do what Dan suggests, with my cans... Especially the composites...

I take Dawn Dish-washing detergent and add a few drops with some water into the holes I drill (I drill two 1/4" holes). Swirl the water and Dawn around a couple of times... Pour out the solution and then do it again...

Let the can sit for a few days at an angle to ensure all contents drain, completely...

I haven't had any problems with cans "seeping" after that...

I've been reluctant to empty my full cans (for no logical reason, whatsoever) but the seeping problem does get old. I have my shelf wrapped in galvanized so it's not harming anything, but it is still a visual mess.

Check w/ your ins. agent to see how many qts/gal of oil you can have in house/garage. Some will/can cancel your policy after a fire IF you have more than allowed.

Never even considered that, DB. Thanks. I'll make it easy, I'll empty all of them and plug that loophole.
