It's actually for a sign with a glass lens. It appears to originally been held in place with a snap ring. I thought about making a ring but figured it I would check here first.

Wrap your wire around a barrel, cut to length.

Go to,the HOBBY LOBBY or other hobby store and look for metal rings. They should have them all the way up to 48 inches. I have close to 25 of the 15 inch ones for metal body globes, which I have for sale, by the way. The rings, when cut, have really good tension and will hold a lens really well.

Chuck:

Any competent metal fabricator can roll you a ring. All they need is the diameter of the original 'wire' and the diameter of the finished circle you want. In your case, probably a 36' diameter.

Remember, you want the rolled ring to be a larger diameter than the hole so you have tension when installed. You might have to trim to length - but that just takes a cut-off wheel.

Later . . .

Most body shops or any of your friends that do metal fab work will have a slip roll machine or a 3 in 1 combination machine can make you some in a couple minutes.
