It's obvious from the insane prices realized that the 18% buyers premium had no effect on interested buyers. Can't believe some of the prices...I'm thinking Morphy Auctions have their own clients that also like gas and oil? There were some deals but very few. Auction still in progress we'll see how the rest goes. Some pieces were 25% to double retail PLUS the 18% wow!!! We'll at least all our collections just greatly increased in value.Scott B.

I was watching the live online bidding. How do you go back to item one and see what everything sold for?

I was wondering also. Im watching it now waiting for some items to come up so I can bid. I missed the Coastal and Rebel globes. Scott, did you see what they went for?

Looking for any Alabama based globes and advertising such as Coastal, Rebel, Interstate Oil, Foster Oil (supertane), Mutual, Oil Well, etc...

52000 or 53000 on the Harbor!!! Plus 18-20% holy cow!!
I missed a deal on one though. Computer didnt click for some reason and lost my bid!!! Life goes on though.
Mobiloil Marine can did great at 700. I was runner up but that 20% stopped me.

This for me has been the best selection of stuff for my collection that i have seen auctioned. Now if i get anything will be another part of the story.

Scott I think that this phenomenon is being seen at a lot of auctions where deep pockets who are buying trophies rather than collecting for themselves. Last weeks auction in AB had a clock face go for 14.5. I saw fantasy pieces that you can buy online for 50 sell for near 500. Sensible? Practical? Obviously not. While this drives up the value of your collection unfortunately it will make acquisition prices that much higher and certainly makes this all less affordable for the new entrants into OG whether young or old (like me). And it brings out more bad behavior from people such as outright theft, deception and fraud.

Morphy Live and Live Auctioneers bidding tools are antiquated software. You'd think they would invest some of that 18-20% buyer's premium into updating their bidding software. IMO Proxibid has the #1 online user interface for bidding. I was really disappointed when I found out the Peotone auction wasn't available on Proxibid. With the Proxibid tool you can be watching the live action and scroll back and forward through the on-line auction catalog. You can get sound from the auction if it is provided. You can also text a live person and get instant feedback. SOOO much better!!

I can't complain too much, at least the Auction is/was available via Live Auctioneers.

Interesting tidbit of info ... I was logged into both the Morphy Live bidding tool as well as Live Auctioneers bidding tool. The Live Auctioneers tool seemed update much faster with bids before you saw the same bid hit the Morphy Live tool.

I'm still holding out for a good deal on one of the globes still coming up. Based on the high selling prices that I've seen thus far, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I don't want to be negative - and I often overpay for things I like. - But I could not bring myself to bid with the 20% buyers premium.

In the long run this probably saved me a bunch of money.

I have been watching and quickly realizing that at these prices I am going to end up with a big ZERO to add to my collection. Still great to see these items. I am also not impressed with "live auctioneer" and I miss proxibid!

Looking for early valvoline, freedom-valvoline, franklin pa items, Galena

Dan McGuffey hears me say this a lot, lol! Just wish I would have bought more of the more common pump plates as I don't want to pay the prices now. I always thought a lot of them were plentiful enough that you could buy them anytime for a bill or two....definitely no longer the case!
