This is a nice Mobil Flame Bottled Gas Service sign. Nice amateur restoration-the bent sheet metal was straightened, the front was completely repainted and lettering was professionally redone by a local artist. I did a lot of research and could not find this sign or one like it that sold recently. I'm asking $1,300 or Best offer. This sign must be picked up in Wharton, NJ 07885. I WILL NOT SHIP THIS SIGN.

Just my uninformed opinion but I think the repaint is hurting the sign...

...I'd say the repaint is killing it's value...if the paint was so far gone that it needed to be totally repainted, the value wasn't there to begin with...and a new paint job doesn't add value to the sign, as a collector piece...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

I understand that, but there was no lettering left to see when I got it, just the embossing where the lettering and Pegasus was. It was scrap metal.

Its great its restored and saved, but its tough to get big money for restored signs. Still nice to keep and has value but not as much as you would think.

I'd jump on that very generous offer. most collectors would not even want it.
