Well, I have a Wayne 70 pump I'm currently restoring and have hit a snag with the sight glass assembly. I cannot get the pot metal flange off of the glass housing. I've tried heat, penetrating oil, compression wrench, and tapping with a hammer. I don't want to scar or break it so I'd appreciate any advice. Both glass bulbs are in good shape though one is very cloudy with years of filth. Thanks

Place it in container submerged in a mixture (half and half) of automatic transmission fluid and Coca Cola for a few days.

Thanks Dave. Any recommendation on what type of tool I should use to get it off? Also, any ideas on what might clean the glass without pulling them apart? Perhaps pouring white vinegar through the outlet?

Remove the sight glass manifold & fill w/ Simple Green for a few days. Recirculate several times, [maybe use some pressure] till clean. DO NOT use any acid that will attack Alum.

Remove a few bolts, in-feed & out-feed lines, place in a bucket, soak in Simple Green till clean.
Drink Enough BEER, it won't matter what tool you use.

I cleaned a Bennett 76 site glass and manifold with household ammonia. It did an amazing job. cleaned the glass as well as the spinner. Mine was at least a 50/50 mix of water and ammonia. Let it sit and just turned it over a few times.
Yep! probably had a BEER or three
Larry
it did kill a spot in the lawn though
