My wife and I had a sign we liked that was recently sold. No one seemed to value it as much as we did. Now granted, we were in a tight spot so we sold it for $150. I feel like it was worth a lot more than that. I wanted your inputs?

Sign was single sided tin. Measures about 3 feet wife and 2 and a half across.

Guess my question is what would it have been worth to you? And why wasn't it as valuable as I thought?

I'm guessing it's from the 30-40s. Yellow is a unique color. Never seen another one like it, most are blue-ish. Don't see too many signs with people showing the product.

No negativity here please. Only knowledge or an answer to a burning question.

Well, its kind of niche collecting area in advertising, medical and apothecary pieces. Sure, there are many collectors for such pieces, and the early patent medicine signs and such can and will bring thousands, but this is slightly later(30s?) and isn't in the best of condition. Still, its a nice sign, a very nice sign.

I think you did good if you advertised it for $100. And sold it for $150.
It does have graphics but very plain graphics and just a 2 color sign, the yellow detracts from it in my opinion, that is what kept me from jumping on it.

The sign looks to be in the style of 1930's advertising but I believe it's actually missing part of the sign along the top which should say "A New Plan" part of Vicks campaign "A New Plan for better control of colds" or something similar.

$150 was a reasonable price. I would think it would average between $100-200 retail generally speaking. Someone into general store advertising (where this would have likely been used) might pay more if the saying was complete.
