I have just cleaned 2 Bennett 76 pannels using electrolisis. There were so many coats of paint I didn't even see the 3" pocelain ETHYl sign on the bottom of the first pannel. Caught it when I was checking the brew. They cleaned up as good as new. I hope reuse both on this pump About what time period were these used? Thanks Greg

Hi Greg -

The signs on your pump were used by Sinclair and Gulf in the 1950's - there may have been other companies that used them. I know Sinclair and Gulf did because I owned original pumps with those 3" signs glued in place, and the pumps exhibited no other livery save the aforementioned brands.

A buddy of mine has some rougher signs like yours - he puts a magnet behind each sign and uses them for refrigerator magnets...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...

Your sign was used from 1941 to 1960's. Before 1941 the lower banner said "Ethyl Gasoline Corporation". The very rare versions of 1923-24 had "General Motors" in the banner. Many gasoline brands used the 3" and 8" signs.
