No, the 6 means it was made in June, the V means it was made in either 1950, or 1973, the remaining numbers are the serial numbers. Jack Sim Author, Gas Pump Identification booka and Air Meter Identificaion book www.petrolianacollectibles.com

I built those for 15 yrs and I really don't know. We rebuilt Bennets from Mexico sometimes. On the side you pictured it read: medidor typo-40 As far as I know they started making that model in the late 30's....almost 40. Bennett used an alphabetical date code. There should be a capital letter in your ID # I don't remember what year it started with A. The next year would be B, and so on.
Hows the leg? Joe

Bennett made three meters that used that same body. The 1000, 3000, 4000 series. 1000 had a ball like calibrating setup....if you have ever found a set of spanner wrenches wired to the frame, that is what they are for....calibrating the meter. The 3000 had a pin type adjuster. The 1000 and 3000 had mechanical carbon shaft seals, the 4000 took a lip seal.
Do they still produce the GAS PUMP BLUE BOOK??????? Lots of good info in there.
Hey Bill, I found a few more NOS Bennett door bumpers ,....do you want them???

Didn't know it was a 646. Your pump was made in 1951.
