Jut a FYI. These weren't on air towers. Although I suppose they could be put on one. They were just mounted on a piece of (About1 1/2") "T" stock About four foot high with a hook to roll up the hose welded to it. Thats why the holes are offset. One screw would go on each side of the stake. If that makes any sense. A picture is worth a thousand words and if I can dig one out of the squirrel hole I'll try to post a picture. I thought the first one I found at a station was home made, but then I found another, identical, at another station and they were like a hundred miles apart or so.

THANK YOU Jim T, I had seen them called air tower signs, but had no knowledge for sure. I had this sign , hanging on a nail above an air outlet inside my shop, for 35 years, just thought it was neat. dont think it was ever actually mounted as the grommets are not mashed.

Dont keep me wondering-what do you mean "Its not round"? Now when ever I take a picture with my phone , even though its upright in my computer, the image comes up 90 degrees off on Oldgas

Dont keep me wondering-what do you mean "Its not round"? Jim, If you look near the beginning of this thread, I jokingly ask Rick (ColdPizza), not to bid on the sign. I said he wouldn't want it cuz pizza's are round and the sign is oval. Just being silly. Sorry I can't help you with your sideways pictures. Now back to the fun, that sign with the original stake is AWESOME!!! There can't be very many of those stakes around. Have to believe they were all tossed aside.

When I right click on the cock-eyed image in the thread, a box appears that says ,amongst other things, "View Image" when I click on that, a box with the image at the original, correct angle appears.
