Bill Weathers sent in this question and pictures.

"I was wondering if you could post this picture of my latest purchase. Does anyone know what this came off of? It is 21 inches in diameter, heavy guage metal, a 3/4 inch flange, and looks like it might have had four tabs for bolts on the back side of the flange. I don't think this was merely a sign, but rather a part of some other item."

Interesting Texaco item. Thanks for sharing it with us, Bill. Anyone know where this was used?

Looks like a cover for an over head air line retractable reel. Possibly made by ALIMITE

Many different brands had the combined air, grease, gear oil and water hose in the overhead retractable reels. I had one that had air, grease, & gear oil without any label on it. But it looked a lot like the one pictured.

Thanks to all who replied to my query on the Texaco round. I appreciate the info. When I first saw it I knew I had to have it. Of course I can't let it alone, I have to restore it which may be a mistake. Thanks again. Bill

DB shot me an email to see if I could add to this. I agree with Dick, it might be from a Alimite, but it also could be from a Grayco, Lincoln, or even Gilbarco. I did go through a 4" thick Alimite catalog and didn't see anything that looked like this. I did find this, where they state they can supply "Metal disc in actual colors. Diams. 4", 20". For reels, pump cabinets, oil bars, etc. Decals also avasilable." This was from around 1949.

I've seen similar hose reels with Standard (Ind) and American logos. I'd be interested in one with a Sinclair logo on it.

Wanted: Gas pump globes:Sinclair & affiliates, IL companies. Ripple bodies. Anything Sinclair, Stoll, Pierce, 4 Bros.
