I received this by email to be posted on Shop Talk: ______________________________ Dear Oldgas Members,
Hello, my name is Dave Hathaway. I was a registered user on the Oldgas website for a brief time with the user name of NC Royalty. I was on the website only for a brief time due to a very lackadaisical and offensive attitude towards several members, and really, to the entire website at the time. I was very harsh and abbrasive, to say the least, and I had severely rediculed some of the members on their views and visions of the hobby. I am very wrong for having done this and I was way out-of-line. I am truly sorry to those that were involved, and for those who had to read or become involved due to my negativity. There is no excuse for my behavior. I write this letter to try to convey my deepest apology to T-way, Chris Holt, the Moderators of the website, and to all of Oldgas' members that were affected. It will not happen again. I had recently re-registered under the name BBQ Chicken, and was discovered by the Moderators about my alias and was soon suspended under that name as well. This should be a lesson to all - and most of all, myself - to not in any way, shape, or form, deface or abuse the priviledges or rights that are provided by the Oldgas website. I clearly see and understand what damaging circumstances my actions have caused. I was not taking the website and the potential relationships with its members seriously, and it was a very immature approach. Moreover, I am sincerely sorry to all members, and particularly to those that I had directly addressed. I am sorry. I can only hope that my apology will be accepted by the gracious nature that is shared by all members on Oldgas.com. Again, please accept my deepest apology, it will not happen again. Please feel free to contact me via the Moderators and I will be glad to personally apologize and address members individually if need be. I truly want to rectify the situation. Take Care and Thank You for your consideration and time.
Sincerely,
Dave Hathaway NC Royalty & BBQ Chicken

I do not have a problem with Dave, heck I am one of those guys that would fight in school then go to the movies that night with the dudes I just punched out “no different from most guys” as my wife says. I am just glad I am not suspended for anything, which would suck… I am sure Dave has something GREAT that he can contribute to the group when and if he is allowed back. You have to remember that he is not the only one that has been bad. But anyway you look at it this “lady” slapping that people have done on this site in the past needs to stop, and for the most part it has…
I have posted some things that have made people mad in the past – or I have drummed up lots of controversy, but in the end everyone learned a TON about my original posting. I can recall one about 15 inch lens costing big bucks about 2 years ago. That made some of the high end collectors mad at me, and some of the guys that pop them out mad at me too. Heck even the famous parts house “red headed” owner chimed in on that one and in the end we all found out why parts are not made in China, and what all goes into the production of the high end stuff. Heck today I am using what I learned on that post to have some of my own parts made now for me and to some of the users on this board.
How long is he suspended if I can ask?

Being one of the outlaws on here,or so to say voicing my opinion on many topics here has opened many eyes on prices on pumps and such.I think if this guy has stepped up to the plate and opoligized to absolutely everyone like a man should do if he feels so then he should be immediately let back in to our site here and be on probation, other words he can only post positive comments on issues until further notice.Sometimes we speak before we think,we all do it,I can name a few ???????

Mr. Hathaway , Thank you for your Apology, I accept this as being truly sincere , This site was not set up to be the stomping grounds for people to air out after a hard days work , nor is it a place for people to deliberitly play the devils advocate to invoke an argument just because they feel its entertaning . To often we hear second hand or choose to only listen to just one side of a story, and then vent out on this site with half truths that were told to us . none of this was the intent of Jim Potts when he invisioned this web site. I Applaud you for standing up and taking responsibility for your actions , I truly accept your apoligy . Chris Holt

I am on several forums on the net. Mostly soda and classic mustangs. I never rarely, if ever, see this type of problem on those other sites. I know I don't have alot of posts basically because most of the topics are "over my head" so to speak since I have alot of interests but no real speciality. I think part of the problem is the amount of money that can be involved, since most gas/oil items can blow away other interests with their commanding prices. Maybe not, just my opinion for what it's worth.

Dave: Thank you for taking the initiative to publicly apologize. As they say, "Actions speak louder than words." And your letter of apology to Chris, myself and the entire Oldgas community speaks to a sincerity of remorse for your actions. I accept your apology and hope that the other members on here will too. I look forward to having you as a contributing member to this fine site once your suspension is completed. Jim (T-way) Treadway

To wright a letter like that I think this guy is real sincere. I have been outspoken in the past also, but feel only positive stuff can come from civil disagreements. As long as everyone can respect everyones opinion and not get personal, we can all learn from different perspectives. Heck, let the guy back on here, I think he will do just fine!!!!
