DCpate........ you've got some nice items on ebay, but I'm wondering why you find it necessary to do the "keyword spamming" thing. bob

"Keyword Spamming" ? I find it very smart and thorough advertising to reach the most bidders that collect all types of Petroliana, When you sell something, you want everybody to see it.

It is when you add words to the Auction title Like "Gas Pump Oil Can Globe" when you are selling a sign. When you do this your auction will show up in more searches than just when searching for a sign. This is a good thing to do if you are a seller this way you get your Item out there to the biggest audience you possibly can.
***Wanted*** Always looking for Oilzum, Kunz, and Husky Cans, Signs and Smalls.

Esse's Garage and KZ1000 explained it better than I probably can. Just trying to get the most exposure for my items...

It may be ok for the seller, but it sure sucks to be the buyer who is doing keyword searches and gets hits that are not what he is looking for.... a major waste of time. Just think what would happen if everybody on ebay did it. coldpizza here is a link to an older thread on oldgas that gives a couple more views on the practice of "keyword spamming". http://www.oldgas.com/shoptalk/ubb/Forum1/HTML/003445.html bob

There is a BIG difference advertising a Phone Booth under Gas Pump, or advertising a Globe, sign, gas pump, in the same heading when you are reaching out to people who collect all Gas and Oil related items, To me it helps in searching for items. DCPate is selling a Gas related item, and he is reaching out to all people who collect Gas related items. GREAT JOB DC

Ebay once pulled an auction of mine for "manipulating the search" I'm all for the "old gas oil auto porcelain tin pump sign" For a seller there is no better way to get more views by people connected to the petroliana\automobilia hobby. Just my opinion.

I had Ebay pull an auction for that once. I had listed a piece of glassware and I didn't know for sure which one of two types it was so I put both names with an OR in the title and they pulled it for keyword spamming. I was not spamming and got it pulled and then I see people intentionally doing it and getting away with it. Makes me mad and I usually won't even look at an auction if they spam it. Really no need to. People will find it and it will bring what it is worth.
Drive with Care and Buy Sinclair!! I buy Sinclair globes, signs, cans, ect.
