Travis,

What's the old saying about the worm? Sorry, buddy, I just couldn't pass it up.

It's ok - I did not want it THAT bad - figured if I started bidding it would be closed at 1400 or so... Plus I have 4 of those in stock right now that I need to move.

Fun Fun!

I left that bid a couple of hours before it closed, never thought I would get it for that price. The pump is only 2 hours from me so I gave it a shot. I would rather be lucky than good any day. Thanks for not pushing it.

That's a heck of a nice paint job for that money. I need to start watching pumps closer on ebay. Funny thing is, I sold an unrestored Tall 39 this week for $750 + freight. Ebay & Auctions just ain't the place to sell restored pumps I guess.

I know what your saying about ebay - but it is not just ebay -

There is a guy here in town that owns the local pump company that is restoring pumps and selling them for $750 for small electrics - $1100 for tall electrics and $1400 for visis like Fry Mae Wests and things like that "all restored" - heck I can not touch them for that kinda money! I have thought about buying this pumps and re-selling them on ebay for more $$$....

Its CRAZY!

to MOST buyers the COST of transportation is a HUGE factor

especially the "retail" buyers that are not "into" the hobby per se, they just want to get hubby a special gift for the garage ...

that is where all the retail prices come from

that pump appeared to be a GREAT deal ... for those that were smart enough to just go get it, if you were to add the cost of freight (not a buddy picking it up) then the price is more in line with the "retail" market is

IMHO. YMMV, etc
