I've been wanting one for awhile and don't want to get burned. Any experts on these signs out there?

Thanks.

I believe it's original. I have one just like it and have seen several others. Very nice looking sign. Value?

If it's marked "Desperate Sign Company, Wadsworth" I'd pretty much bet the house its a repop. This guy makes all kinds of them. Paper, cardboard ,embossed tin. Its priced probably 170.00 to high.
Here you go-I don't see that one in there but personally I'd stay off it.

I don't know about the sign on Ebay although it does look to be a reproduction sign... I was looking at Matthews Auction on Feb 27th. in Peotone IL and there is an Original Evinrude sign on there. this is their website

It indeed is marked "Desperate Sign Company, Wadsworth"
That's what got me thinking it was a repop. We have had several successful sign companies come out of Ohio, "Desperate Sign Company" is one that I had never heard of. Thanks a bunch.

Bob Secrist founded Desperate Enterprises in 1987. Since that time Desperate Enterprises has reproduced over 1400 different signs and has introduced several different products including: tin signs, refrigerator magnets, light switch plates and thermometers.

There are a ton of repop evinrude signs...Most have some distinguishing characteristics...(dots instead of waves)...also a local guy here has about 4 different sizes of the blue/yellow/white ones (some have wood borders)...Frank on pickers paid like 5 or 800 for one of the large repop ones...I've seen lots of guys show their "original" signs however they are pops...

I just saw that episode last night where he bought that big bogus sign. He was so proud of getting over on that guy. I think he paid 650.00. There have also been large -like48x60 or so cardboard signs with sporting good type themes in auctions over the past year or so around here. One was the Winchester or Remington ammunition sign with the dark green background. It sold for like 1400.00. The other one I saw was for some type of fishing lures and sold for several hundred. They both had similar "looks" to them. At first look they are quite deceiving and hard to tell from ten feet away. I believe they are made somewhat locally. Just as there were prolific early sign companies in Ohio, I'm sorry to say there are lots of repops made in Northern Ohio too.
