This sign is Dwaine's and real, check the second picture for the fake one. This sign is a fake. Made in probably 1980's The only difference is that the real ones have the sign makers info on the bottom right corner. The fake one's are missing the makers info. ------------------ Don "oltoydoc" Sherwood Vintage Gas

Nice picture of the fake one Don. I can't believe how these tin signs have gone up in price. the thing is the guys buying them know there not the real thing. Dennis Griffin had one at Turlock two years ago, it was scratched up a little had two dents in it and sold it for 800.00. Another collector in Southern Cal, paid 1,300.00 in the shape of the one Don is showing. We can't stop guys from buying repos, all we can do is let them know there out there.

Dwaine, can you photo the lower right corner of your sign, to show the maker identification. ------------------ Don "oltoydoc" Sherwood Vintage Gas

Hi guys, I have a "real one", the colors on the repop don't seem as "deep". Also, are the repops embossed like "the real mccoy"?

It's identical, the repo's art work was taken from the first of these signs that was sold. The way you can tell is the embossing isn't as high, and the ridge that runs the edge is wider, if the writeing at the bottom right is visable its very fussy plus the light color is not as creamy. its more white.

Ton, the sign is embossed just as the original. The colors might be off a bit, but if someone runs into one that's for sale, my guess is that they won't really care about the different shades on the sign. it's a killer sign either way. My repro will have to do,until I can find an original to replace it with. ------------------ Don "oltoydoc" Sherwood Vintage Gas

Here's a little bit better photo of the Donaldson name on an original sign. On this sign, you will notice that the bottom right corner was cut off. It is still a good photo of the original name. ------------------ Don "oltoydoc" Sherwood Vintage Gas
