I just got an erie 71 and it has front ad glass holder instead of the scalloped design that is usually above the face plate, It is marked 71 yet in the gas pump book it only shows a model 91g and 90 having the ad glass attachment on front, was wondering if this is a rare model and if anyone knows about it, Ad glass holder is obviously original as it has the scalloped design on top and bottom of ad glass holder

When I originally posted this there was some controversy of which model it is. I checked the ID tag [again]& it is a Figure 70.

I believe this model could be ordered w/ or w/o Glass top, adv glass or Station lighter.
The pump it self is not RARE [you've got 2, T-way has more than a few].
jm2c:
Glass top would add $1200-1500 to value of pump.
[Brass lettering for Glass top might add $100-150]
S.L. would add $900-1100 to value of pump.
Adv. glass would add $100 to value of pump.
Faces plates like yours vs what I have, Add $50-100.

Dick:

I think I have either a bit more - or a bit less than 5 complete Erie 70/71's now.

I've got pieces all over the Coop and the Pole Barn. As soon as the weather breaks, one of my first projects is to get all of them together and figure our exactly how many complete pumps I have and get started on some restorations.

I bought one at auction last fall that was not totally complete - and then a did a quick run out to California shortly after that and got 2 more + a few extra pieces.

And of course - I've got all the SS Trim I need to finish them off!! LOL

Later . . .

Jim

P.S. I think your estimate of the value of the glass top is low. If you really want one (and I did) you will step up to the plate when one becomes available and pay the price.

In the middle of restoring my Erie 81 clockface with original bubble glass face glass and glass top. Will be flying Richfield colors. Got the glass top from frankpl with a little corner damage to it, but it's original. Looks a lot like the 70/71 model. Kent.

So its a 70 since it has the ad glass holder and 71 would be the regular non ad glass type? I guess the factory made it without the scalloped part above the face plate and someone didn't just redo these to add the ad glass holder??
