Clarence Perkins @ VC Signs absolutly makes some of the finest limited edition large porcelain signs out there. I do know that most are in the $100+ range. I was just saying that, just like the derby globe, if enough people wanted them, we could do them in the cheap run-of-the-mill size & price. Either way, I think it's a cool idea and would be interested in some for my catalog.

Maybe have FILTERED GASOLENE across the top instead of PETROL. Keeping with BOWSER's use of Gasolene on their pump ID's.

I didn't keep up with the Derby globe,
So you might have to draw me picture.
I don't know exactly how to get this started.
You guys know more about this sort of thing than I do. But I can get my hands on the sign long enough to copy the image. I would like to see it copied as is, if it is possible. Flange and all. Afterall it is a rare and beautiful sign and deserves it.
But I would still like a copy in porcelain
either way....a wall hanger would have to have the grommets on the ends only, to stay out of the lettering.

Ill take one...flange or not i dont care..but i would like a porcelain rather than a screen printed one...that style of sign deserves to be replicated in porcelain!!

It's a small sign, 21 1/2" X 15"
I have it now, and it looks like the flange part is blue.SO it will still be three colors. This sign is in worse shape than the picture shows. The blue looks like a cobalt blue.
After looking close there is some names on one side under where it says pump.
this is how they are written.

BRUTON, PALMERS GREEN, N,
I suppose this sign was Canadian or U.K.

I did a search on the net.....
James Bruton & Sons ,Palmers Green ,North London, England.
enamel sign makers. It still could have been an English export to Canada...Were not parts of Canada still under the rule of the U.K. then ?????

I went to Staples and had them copy the sign,
they had to do it in two sections..The colors did not come out quite right.. a little darker. I will go ahead and make a template for the metal while I have the sign.

What else do I need to do????? I don't have a clue as to what needs to be done now.
Ain't nuttin dumber than a plumber.
Thanks Joe

Joe, put me on the list for 2. Maybe more! I'd like to see them made as a flange sign. Looking at the VC website, I see he has made porcelain flange signs before.

Cool sign, thanks for stepping up and trying to get them made!

Thought you guys may like to see three different versions of this Bowser sign. One I got from Romania, one England , and the other "came from Europe"(was bought from a dealer in the U.S.)....I believe these were just used in Europe at stations that featured the Bowser pump to service your automobile.I bought every one of these signs I have ever come across.....here they are...not mint but OK.

The top one looks to be French. I wonder why they left out "pump"....to big of a word in French??????
Thanks for the peek.
Do they have a Makers Mark below where it says PUMP?
Joe
