Ok better late then never. Here is the list as promised. I am just copying what is on the paper so I dont know what book it is referring to.

The following is a list of the manufacturers names that are found on the sign in this book. Most of the major company's will be present as they produced high quantities of signs. Street addresses are not listed because some companies did business at more than one location. Many companies listed were manufacturers of very different products such as stove castings building panels kitchen ware & other utilitarian items. Although it is difficult to establish the dates listed will give you an idea as to a particular company's heyday. A (*) designates that limited information is available for the years of production. It is of interest to note that one of the most frequently encountered names found on signs EM Burdick of Chicago, was a distributor not a manufacturer. This is true of other company's as well.

Action Burrows Co Toronto Canada 1900-1920

I have 30's Coca Cola sign that is made by
"WESCO INC SIGNS N.Y", My guess would be that NESCO INC...is a misspelling, not made by you Gasoildude - DOC didn't find the Wesco entry in Rex' list either.

Also, a comment about the C Robert Dold...I have signs made by them that is from the 50 and 60s - they did not stop in the 20' as the sist suggests. They were a major sign maker in Germany, making signs for all of Europe.

I thought that this post should come to the front again, as I have it printed and have found it very useful through the years.
Theres at least one I know of that isn't on this list and I'll post it as soon as I find my notes! LOL
It is "Vitrified Iron Products Co." from Clyde, Ohio
seems they made porcelain sign up into 1933 and then closed up the doors and were reopened in 1934 making porcelain refrigerator panels!

I have a pre-prohibition sign for Pabst Wonder Cheese...marked CAMEO....bought in the 80s from a longtime collector. He said it stood for California Metal Enamel Works. Anyone familiar with that? I see Cameo Gilla on the list.....is this the same company?

Never seen a porcelain sign marked S.T.M.S. (St. Thomas Metal Signs, St. Thomas, Ontario) only silk screened tin signs.

Not familiar with GSW.

I believe St. Thomas Metal Signs made the porcelain Coca Cola thermometers with the silhouette girl at the bottom. They are marked ST. They probably though were mainly a tin sign maker. I have a few Canadian porcelain sign that are GSW. Cheers, Don.

One I will add is SWP South West Porcelain Sign Co. of Tulsa. I do not know their years of operation ... maybe someone can add the dates.
