PICKED UP A CITIES SERVICE.42 INCH SIZE AND IS BLACK IN COLOR.MY QUESTION IS DOES THE COLOR SIGNIFY AN EARLIER OR LATER SIGN?

I'm not 100% sure but I think Cities Service used the black and white signs before 1946 and green and white after.
Any C-S experts out there know for sure?
