For the sake of all that have a 50, I HOPE NOT. The only sure way of getting a Real WAYNE 866 or 36B-DP is to find one in the field or unrestored. TOO many 60's & 36B's have been converted with Dummy faces & new ID tags. Same as taking a regular $5,000 Mustang & converting it to a $100,000 SHELBY, just so your friends think you have the Real McCoy. tm2c

I would have to agree. In my opinion, an Erie 53 is a pretty spectacular pump in itself - I'd hate to make one unoriginal through modification. To me, part of the appeal of the 50 is its extreme rarity and age. I would be very happy with a "plain old" 53...

Ditto the above post, the 53 is a pretty pump alone.
Thanks, Phil _________________________________________________ Looking for any old pumps, or nice 5 gallon cans.

I dont know of any kits that are available, but do know that the sight glass mount on the top of the pump is different. I think I would leave it be.

I am quite rusty. I went out to a customers place today and he had a little station set up with 2 Erie pumps. I looked for a ID plate and couldnt find any then walked around to the back and they were both blank. No computer just solid sheet metal. Is this a repop or something new in restore jobs? one side only Could you post a picture of the Erie 50 and the 53 Thanks Rick Nelson

These scans are from Jack's first book, please excuse the "chopping" of the photos.(the 53 was right on the seam) And Larry is right, the book's are "must haves", especially for a novice like me.

If I crossed the line by posting the scans, I want to apologize to Jack here. I also sent Jack an email, apologizing for posting his images, without his permission. Bob

Very few if any VR computer pumps were 1 sided. There are a few Clock face pumps that were made w/ only 1 face. I venture to guess that someone was missing the other door & blanked it off.
Here is a link to Jack Sim's web site, showing the images. http://petrolianacollectibles.com/erie%2050.htm

866 is a clock face pump and a 60 is a computer pump.

Pat, Approx. $300-$500. Condition, condition, condition. 866 was mainly for commercial use. Pump could be sold cheaper w/o paying a royalty for the use of a Veeder-Root computer. 60 was for retail use. Until you get The Book, spend some time looking around Jack Sim's Web Site. http://petrolianacollectibles.com/pc-1.htmI can't remember every pump, so I never leave home w/o 1 in the truck.

I heard back from Jack, he accepted my apology. In fact, since he is still having some computer problems and now even automobile problems, he told me to go ahead and repost the scans. So for those who haven't picked up atleast one, if not both of his great books on pump idenification here is what the Erie models 50 and 53 look like. First the Erie 50; The Erie 53;

Normally I would agree with most of you and not want to convert a 53 into a 50 but I can't seem to find a 50. Does anyone know where I can find one for sale? Heck, I'd like to have a real Hemi Cuda convertible but I can't find one of those either so I'll have to either buy a tribute car or make one up myself. Its the same with the 50. Help find me one and I won't cut up a 53.

Matt, Saw it and spoke to the owner. Don't mind paying a fair price but I don't want to overpay.
