last Pic[ just above] has much cleaner graphics than sign at top of page. Last pic states it is a 14 x 14, all pump plates except the ETHYL [12 x 17] are 12 x 12.

Look at the lines in the lower corners. Looks to me like the one in the book is a repo also.

...compare the photos side-by-side...the one in the book tapers towards the bottom relative to the hatch marks...the one in auction does not...the signs are different shapes....close, but different...also, if you look closely at the hatch marks on the bottom of the 'book' sign, you'll see that they are not 'mirror images' of each other, as they are on the 'auction' sign...whoever did the artwork for the 'auction' sign got lazy and just 'mirrored' the artwork from the bottom left side to make the hatch marks on the bottom right side...the original artist in the late 1920's didn't have that option, he did it all by hand and just redrew the hatch marks, so they're a little different from side-to-side...also, the hatch marks along the edge of the shell should be uniform in stroke width, but they are not, because the modern-day artist used this book photo to recreate the artwork, and the highlights in the photo from the shelved porcelain make the lines apear thinner, when they should be the same stroke width...

Looking for better Gulf items: signs, globes, cans and paper - especially porcelain Gulf flanges, and Gulf A-38 & A-62 ad glass...
